GlobalProtect (PaloAlto) Instructions:
GlobalProtect (PaloAlto) is the new VPN application for Southern Crescent Technical College Employees. This VPN should be used when you are not on an SCTC network (either wired or wireless). You must have a stable internet connection for VPN to work. If it has been installed on your computer, you should see the icon below on your desktop:
To connect with the VPN:
- Double click on the icon on your desktop or select the GlobalProtect shortcut in your start menu under Palo Alto Networks:

GlobalProtect will begin an attempt to connect:

If it does not start the connection process, the following notification window should appear. Click the Connect button:

SSO sign on through Okta is required for access, so enter your username and click Next:

Enter your password and click Sign In:

Once a successful connection is made, the following notification will appear:

It should disappear, but if it does not you can click anywhere on your screen outside of the notification box and it should go away. At any time you can click on the up arrow on your system tray near the time to see if you are connected or double click the icon on the desktop you used to start the application.

To disconnect from the VPN:
- Open the GlobalProtect application already running by:

Clicking the up arrow on the system tray and selecting the GlobalProtect icon:
- OR Double clicking the icon on the desktop:

OR Clicking on the GlobalProtect shortcut in the start menu:

The following notification window should appear - click the Disconnect button:

Once disconnected, the following notification window should appear. If you need to reconnect, you can click the Connect button. Clicking anywhere outside of the notification window will cause it to disappear:

The icon in your system tray should also look like this. You can click on it to reconnect:

You may also see this notification window. Simply click the Connect button if you need to reconnect:
Troubleshooting:
If you have any issues with accessing files or applications on the SCTC network while off site, this is an option for troubleshooting:
- Click the up arrow on the system tray and select the GlobalProtect icon:
- On the Connected notification window, click the 3 lines in the top right hand corner and select Refresh Connection:
- A confirmation window will appear and you can click the Refresh Connection button:
If you lose connectivity, you may see the following notification window. Simply click on the X and check your connection:
If you try to login and you receive the message below, it means you have not been granted permission to the new VPN. You will need to have your supervisor submit a helpdesk ticket requesting access:
